2025 OO737: a known object two arcminutes from its prediction

Our search linked five Rubin detections on five nights across June–July 2026 (MJD 61217–61232), at about 46 AU with a radial rms of 0.05″. Initially labelled unknown, this is the known object 2025 OO737 about 2′ from its catalogue prediction, not a discovery.

Identified known object; poorly determined catalogue orbit

JPL sb_ident found 2025 OO737 125″ away. Its MPC orbit has uncertainty U=9 from a 40-day arc in 2025; the MPC holds no 2026 observations of it at the time of this review.

The orbital planes agree: inclination 3.43° versus 3.43°, and ascending node 223.2° for our fit versus 222.7° for the catalogue orbit. The offset is consistent with the poorly determined catalogue prediction. The short linked arc does not tightly constrain the full orbit.

Rubin difference-image cutouts show point sources at the linked positions. The old unknown filename and report label are retained as historical evidence; this reviewed identification takes precedence on the site.

Short-arc orbit fits can have large uncertainties in a and e; a precise-looking fit is not a precise full orbit.
